I do not understand why your dealer hasn't done a better job of keeping you in the loop on this. Does the window sticker have the words "Special Order" at the bottom? I noticed that mine did.

It sounds like they plan to have a tune ready for you to try out. -
I agree with Michael. Over the winter is not storage. It is just long term parking.

Glad to hear that! Zalvern, have you actually had your car in Livenois' shop or are they creating a tune based on another Z that they had on their dyno? Here is a quick little conversation that I had with them on another forum: brucelinc said: ↑ And don't forget to develop a tune for the 3.0 twin turbo Lincolns! Gotta have it by Spring! In the works!!! Livernois Motorsports, Tuesday at 3:33 PM -
I do not understand why the dealer cannot give you a VIN. My Conti is supposed to be built the same week as your Z and I have had the VIN all along and just pulled up the window sticker.

Excellent choice, longislander, and a good value, too.

Well, that was an easy fix!

I never did run it stock but magazine road tests were around 13.7 @ 100. My best run with the tune is 12.68 @ 108.5. -

Livernois tune and no other mods. It idles smoothly, runs great and gets good fuel economy. Been tuned since 2012 and zero problems. Also about 60 passes at the drag strip. -

The are tough transmissions and a tune vastly improves the shift quickness and firmness without losing the daily driving smoothness. This is a lousy quality video that I made while doing a 0-60 run and holding my phone at the same time. Notice how the 1-2 shift is quick yet smooth. Oh, and the car gets to 60 pretty quick, too. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PfpYWUtAyA -

The good news is that we have seen very few failures of the 6F55 even on highly tuned vehicles that have made 100s of quarter mile passes. In fact, I can only think of a couple of failures and driver stupidity played a large role in those. -

Zalvern, I agree 100%. If the ONLY improvement that a tune provided was applicable to transmission behavior, it would be worth it to me. -

Well, I hope some of what they learn from yours can be applied to mine! I am not looking for the absolute ultimate racing tune. I just want engine and transmission performance comparable to my MKS. -
Lack of reviews for 2017 MKZ?

There is a tiny bit of tubo lag in any turbocharged engine. Also these cars have a drive by wire throttle setup. Flooring the throttle doesn't necessarily pop open the throttle body butterfly like a mechanical linkage would. There is also the ECU that provides torque management to make everything smooth and to protect the drivetrain. -

I have had total success with Livernois remote tuning and the fastest SHOs I know of are remote tuned by Livernois or Unleashed. Having said that, I have no doubt that an individual dyno tune is still superior in terms of performance and safety. I have no idea about dyno numbers for the 3.0. As I recall, most stock SHOs are around 285 HP at the wheels and 350-360 tuned. That equates to around 348 stock and 428 tuned at the crank. Some more aggressive tunes and other mods can raise the numbers substantially. -
I have contacted both Livernois and SCT about tuning for the 3.0. Livernois told me they "can't wait to get that tuning out" and they are "as excited as you are about it." They wouldn't commit to a date when a tune would be available. SCT is also prepared to support tuning. They said it would be shortly after the first of the year. Unleashed Tuning already told me that when SCT supports it, they will develop custom tunes. I have used Livernois for my MKS so I am more loyal to them. I look forward to seeing what these cars will do with a good tune!!

Lack of reviews for 2017 MKZ?
brucelinc replied to Peter Vandermat's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Rergardless of traction control, on dry pavement, a 3.0 MKZ will barely chirp a tire if you just floor it from an idle. These AWD systems REALLY help the car hook up. Even my tuned MKS with substantially more low end torque than the MKZ will barely break the tires loose without brake torquing. -

If Motor Trend's test car really had traction issues, it would account for slower times. However, there is no way that car should have traction issues on dry pavement if the AWD system is working correctly. -

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/lincoln/mkz/2017/2017-lincoln-mkz-3-0-awd-first-test-review/ Good review but disappointing acceleration results. Also, very strange that they seem to have traction issues. Makes me wonder if the AWD was not working correctly. It should not overwhelm the tires on take-off. -

Good review. -
There were many improvements on the 2013 MKS compared to the earlier models. Better brakes, adjustable suspension, quieter. Congratulations on your purchase!

That is outrageous. As a Black Label customer, you should receive the HIGHEST level of service and communication. Maybe things are different with the MKZ but a VIN and build date was given to me within a week of the order being submitted.
