  1. Looks great!!!!! Congratulations! Now get the camera ready. We want LOTS of photos inside/out. BTW, I forgot if I asked this before but does MKZ have that start/stop "technology"? Not the cruise thing but like when you come to a stop light the engine shuts off and turns back on when you give it gas.
  2. Well, that makes sense I guess. For a customer it is always good to have as many contact people as possible. Although I have had luxury vehicles before I never had one with a concierge before the fact, ie, before delivery of the vehicle. Mercedes provides concierge service as part of its upgraded MBrace - but you pay for it. If you follow things that closely I guess it is a very good thing to have.
  3. I really don't understand this Lincoln "concierge" thing. I mean what do they provide that the dealer himself is not able to provide? It seems to me that the dealership should be able to go through their sources at Lincoln to answer any questions and find out whatever they need to for their customers. I guess it is nice to have another layer of contact but is it necessary? I like to go through one person for everything associated with the purchase of my car and that is the person I bought it from - that is what I have done for the past 50 years, including luxury vehicles such as the Mercedes I drive now where I have one person I contact for everything. When I ordered the car and asked periodically during the process and wait when it would be built, delivered, etc., I went to my salesman and he got the answers for me. I would be very disappointed if I had a question about a car I bought and the dealer told me I have to contact Lincoln directly for the answer.
  4. I'm not sure if this will work but I will try to attach a window sticker of 3.0 my dealer has (or has ordered, not sure if it is in yet). If this attachment does not work I don't know any other way of showing it. Let me know if it is showing all my files from my personal library. I don't want that of course and will have to delete if I can. Thanks.
  5. Frankly, I would rather they wait for a nine speed transmission before releasing the 3.0 because they really need to get this right. Power will be there as the numbers suggest but I want it refined, smooth and efficient, much as the Jag XF is said to be. I know the XF is a driver's car and built that way but Lincoln needs to make the most of this new motor, even if its emphasis is more on quiet, comfort and luxury. The transmission must be as modern as the motor in order to do that.
  6. Terrific news Myron! Get the camera ready because you know we won't believe you without pics - lots of pics!!
  7. That is going to be a sweet ride for you. It is very similar to what I want to get but will wait until I test drive it. I am sort of debating between something like you ordered in the MKZ or the Continental. I believe the big motors will come later, as you point out, but I don't know when "later" is but Sept. is what one sales manager thinks. Since I would have to wait until then anyway I might as well as wait for Conti just to see what it is all about. My goal is to have one or the other by the end of the year. Good luck and let us know if you hear anything about the anticipated delivery date.
  8. Yep, that is the future for sure. Virtually all makers are going to this "technology". It will get better for sure. But the one gripe I have is the inability in some cars to create a default setting of "off". Almost all of them allow you to turn it off at the start of your trip. Mercedes for example has a button to hit which you do once at start up and it disables "stop/start" - but only until you turn the car off by the key. Once that happens the default reverts to "on" so you have to go through the button pressing routine each and every time at start up. That is no big deal but still an extra thing to fool with. Until they get this thing down perfect I would like the option to disable it until I want it activated.
  9. My Mercedes ML 350 has this feature and it does not turn the motor off. It only applies a "hold" brake feature so the car does not require your foot on the brake but the engine stays on. On mine, the "hold" feature is only activated when you press firmly on the brake pedal and only when it is on an incline. The move off when the gas is applied is seamless. The actual "start/stop" that shuts down the engine when the car stops may save a little in gas but the C class I was given as a loaner sure did buckle and burp a bit when it turned back on. I'm glad the MXZ has the feature only in the hybrid - at least that is what I am gathering.
  10. Yes, Myron, that is the start/stop system I was talking about. It appears it is available on the MKZ hybrid but not the other engines at this time. I never drove one until the other day. I was having service done on my car and they gave me a CLA to run around in. Every time I came to a light the engine stopped and it jerked me when it started again. I don't care about gas mileage and I know I can disable it but I still don't like it, But unless Ford makes a better system than Mercedes it would be a deal breaker. In fact, I would prefer to disable it as a default setting rather than doing it each time I start the motor. If the MKZ gas engines are not start/stop that puts them even higher on my list.
  11. I hope you are right and stop/start is only considered for the adaptive cruise control rather than the stop/start that turns off the motor at traffic lights. If the hybrid is the only model that has start/stop then it is no longer a consideration. Chances are anyway that I will opt for the 400 hp.
  12. I can't determine if the new MKZ has start/stop in all engine models. Does anyone know? If so, can it be disabled and remain in memory as the default setting so that you do not have to push buttons each time you start the motor?
  13. Yes, I assumed torque vectoring was for spirited driving, especially useful in cornering. I also thought it was similar to my MB system known as 4-Matic but I could be wrong about that. As I understand it the torque is applied (more or less) to each wheel depending on need. At my age now I can't say I will drive this vehicle in a "spirited" fashion and I would rather have a "luxury" suspension than a harsher sport suspension. I may not need torque vectoring at all. Frankly, I don't need 400 hp/torque either but I would like to have it. The big issue seems to be this driver's package. If I am stuck with the black interior I know I won't want the driver's package, no matter what else it offers. That alone may make me move up to the Black Label interiors. I guess these are the reasons I told Myron I really need to test drive the various cars/engines and see what suits me.
  14. Yea, that was me talking about really wanting a test drive before I order. I am testing a hybrid just to see what it is like (I have never driven one before). As you point out, the 2016 and 2017 hybrid models will essentially drive the same so if I really like it I could certainly move a hybrid up my list. Let us know how everything turns out. Incidentally, you may know the answer to this but I am getting conflicting information. Is torque vectoring standard on the new engine with all wheel drive? Or, is part of the driver's package option? It seems to me that if you have that much hp and torque you almost need something like that to keep the thing under control.
  15. No, I have to wait for them to come in and take a test drive. I do have an appointment for Monday to see the sales manager and test drive a hybrid. I am only interested in the 400hp but the auto show I attended had coupons sent out for people interested in Lincolns. They will give me a $75 Master Card for a test drive of a new Lincoln so I might as well take advantage of it and get to know the sales manager at the same time. But I would never order a car sight unseen or without at least driving one around a little.
  16. I take a different view. I love to rub on my car and detailing is a form of therapy for me as well as a source of pride. I do not want a product like a coating that will last two years. Not waxing or sealing my car for that long would drive me nuts! I like to fully detail my car every three or four months with a quality wax or sealant (my current favorite is Sonax Polymer Net Shield). I do this even if the protection is still there. In fact, some sealants I've used on friends' cars have lasted over six months. Duragloss makes sealant 111 that I know can go six months with good beading still present. If you enjoy experimenting with different products, a coating would be wasted since the reason for its existence is longevity - once there do not touch it for a year or more. No doubt coatings are great for their intended purpose but for those of us who actually like working on our cars often, they are a waste of money.
  17. Did they give you an anticipated build date?
  18. I guess $1000 of sticker is better than nothing. You may be one of the first to own one of these vehicles so there is always a price to be paid for that privilege. You said in another thread you are under no obligation to buy it and get your deposit back so that is a good deal right there. I hope to do the same thing in a few months so maybe by then they will have some incentives in place. Keep us up to date and thanks for all the information.
  19. Great! Let us know how it all turns out.
  20. Thanks for that site, it was interesting. I assume there is a moon roof standard and the pano roof is an option. The way I configured a build it came to $60,000! I wonder where the Continental will be priced if the MKZ is that expensive. I think Lincoln needs to have serious incentives in place even at launch if it hopes to compete.
  21. Yes, Myron, please do keep us posted in this thread. I will be most anxious to hear about how long it will take from order to delivery.
  22. Yea, I hear what you guys are saying but I still need to test drive one before ordering. I have never owned a Lincoln but my Mercedes is a standard I hope the Black Label edition will exceed or at least equal. I went to the Dallas Auto Show a couple weeks ago and they had a 2017 MKZ on display but it was marked "prototype" and for some reason you could not open the doors. The rep there said he was not allowed to have anyone sit in it. I don't understand that. It looked really nice and spiked my interest. Up on a revolving pedestal they had a white Continental that looked just glorious. The doors were open and the interior was very nice but again, I was not allowed to go up there to sit in it. From my view point the Continental looked too big for my needs. My other options this year are the new Volvo S90 and E Class. I was thinking of the Jag XF but ruled that out at the Auto Show. If the MKZ Black Label compares at least closely with the Volvo and Merc I will probably buy it because I know it will be considerably cheaper than either of those. Nonetheless, I need to sit in it and drive it before making a final decision.
