  1. A recent Canadian review concerned primarily with the pricing of the MKZ: http://driving.ca/lincoln/mkz/reviews/road-test/car-review-2017-lincoln-mkz-reserve-awd-3-0t-2
  2. Did you get much of a discount? I need to know what people are paying for these things.
  3. I think that was pretty impressive. From what you wrote about your lack of experience on the track, no chance to tweak tire pressure, etc. the times you posted were good. Your car is new and they probably have a break in procedure for the first 1000 miles or so. Are you not afraid of hurting the motor until that procedure is completed? I seldom pay much attention to the break in instructions on cars I buy but I don't drive like you do on the track. What does the MKZ instructions call for in terms of "break in procedure"?
  4. Did you get much of a discount? I'm thinking of ordering too but wondering what to offer. There are really no price guides out yet to help me.
  5. Thanks! That is really good news because of all the night driving I do on these back roads.
  6. Great review and it is nice to hear you are loving the car. One thing I would like to get your opinion on (and I ask this of everyone who owns a new MKZ) is the night time driving experience. Because I live in the country with no street lights (and lots of deer) I need a superior headlamp. I currently own a Mercedes with their optional "light package" of Bi-Xenon lamps. They are the widest, brightest headlights I have ever seen. How does the lighting look in your car? How well does the auto feature work and the dimming with on-coming traffic? Thanks in advance for any insights on the night driving experience you may have.
  7. Zalvern, I lived in Ohio for five years and loved it but now I am in Texas. It is 103 as I speak! No rain very often. I need to know what tires to get for the 3.0 (assuming I buy one). What do you recommend. I drive only back country roads but they are maintained, curvy and fun to drive. I seldom get to the city. What tire is out there for me for this car?
  8. Sorry to hear of the electrical problems. That is tough to swallow when a car is brand new. Yes, the new LaCrosse is pretty sharp and well engineered. However, I am hearing of a couple things that don't sit with me very well. For example, the motor is offered in one configuration - a v6 that has stop/go. I could live with stop/go if I could disable it like most other cars with this feature. The problem is that the LaCrosse will not allow you to shut it off and that could be a deal breaker for me. I also don't think it has power folding mirrors, a cd player and a few other things that I would like to have. It will be interesting to take a look at it when it arrives at dealers in a month or so and compare it with the MKZ. The way I want them configured, it looks like the MKZ will cost a few thousand more than the LaCrosse and that is a factor to consider. But so too is the MKZ at 400 hp!
  9. One of the cars I am thinking of buying, (along with the MKZ/Continental), is the new Buick LaCrosse. Buick brought a bunch of them out in every configuration and invited car reviewers to drive them in the Portland, OR. area. This coming out party was just a few days ago and since then there have been a bunch of reviews, both on car websites and youtube. I don't understand why Lincoln did not do something like this. If they did it was ignored. Here is an example:
  10. I have not parallel parked a car in over 20 years. I retired to the country and seldom visit large towns. I have no need for this technology, although people living in the big city might find it very useful.
  11. Thanks - I'll check out both headlamp options.
  12. That is just about the car I want. Please drive at night and let me know how the headlamps are. I want to compare these with what I have now on my Mercedes which is bi-Xenon headlamps.
  13. That is very encouraging news. Please don't forget to give us an idea of the night lighting with the headlamps that are on this vehicle.
  14. That is very true and precisely the reason the MKZ is so high on my list.
  15. Yes, the one you posted is more polished and a better review. Today I've been looking at youtube walkarounds of the redesigned Buick LaCrosse that should hit showrooms pretty soon. Dollar for dollar it seems like a really good sedan. I will have to compare it with the MKZ.
  16. Here is another review, if you want to call it that. They guy is a little stuck on himself and he uses some pretty rough language at times. However, it is a review nonetheless I guess. Basically, he is saying the MKZ is fine but could be more exciting.
  17. Myron, I assume the rear seats are split. Do they both fold flat? I think there is little trunk space so if both rear seats (60/40, I think) fold that would increase space a great deal.
  18. Thanks guys, that is what I needed to know.
  19. Can someone tell me if the cooled seats on the MKZ are cooled by air conditioning or simply a recirculation of air in the cabin? I've heard some car makers do not really create a cooling of the seat, they just blow air. Thanks for any input because I live in Texas and it is HOT half of the year!
  20. As far as car washes being a perk is concerned depends on how picky you are. I don't let anyone wash my car although sometimes I forget to tell my Mercedes service manager that and they do it as a matter of course. I fancy myself a hobbyist detailer and enjoy doing all that stuff myself. My biggest beef is that something as important as the driver's package comes only with a special, black interior. Why? Why is it that you can't get it with any interior you want? It is because of that restriction alone that I will go with BL if I decide on the MKZ or Continental this fall. BTW, what is the regular interval for maintenance items? My Mercedes calls for oil and filters every 10,000 miles or once a year, whichever comes first. I don't put many miles on it so about a month before the year is up the maintenance minder puts out a note on the dash that service is due in 30 days. So I only worry about it once a year. Is that about what we have for the Lincolns? If so I would not mind taking a little trip to the big city (Dallas) once a year and do some shopping while the car is getting serviced at the BL dealership. But if maintenance is required more frequently I will just use the local dealer.
  21. I've been going back and forth in my mind about this black label thing. I don't think it is worth the money unless you live near a BL dealer. I am over 100 miles away from the nearest BL dealership so the perks don't apply to me. The local dealer who is only 37 miles from me will give me a loaner every time I bring the car in and that is really all I care about. Having said that it looks like I have no choice but to buy a BL MKZ anyway in order to get what I want. The thing is I do not want a black interior but if I get the driver's package (which is a must have for me), the interior is black - no other choice. There is no such restriction as to interior color with the BL driver's package "theme" interiors - you can get the driver's package with any of the interior themes (of which Chalet is my favorite). Unless I missed something it appears that the only way to get the driver's package and not be restricted to a black only interior is to buy the BL version.
  22. Thanks, that is why I asked. I have a 2012 Mercedes and it does not have the start/stop feature. I was given a current year loaner by the dealer during an oil change and it had start/stop and I hated it as well. I know I can press a button to disable it but I don't want to if I can help it. Good to hear that "feature" is not on these Lincolns. And we'll be waiting for those pics!!
