  1. Final update for now: The factory tweeters didn't actually have a wire coming out of them so one would need to splice their new tweeters directly to the wire coming from the door. I didn't do this because I was wary about hacking up the wires and the factory tweeters still work fine for me. Everything else was a relatively straightforward and easy process with the only issue coming when one of the harnesses that I purchased had a pin pop out of the plastic. However, I was able to put it back in and tape it up for support and now everything works as intended. If I replace the tweeters in the future, I will be sure to update this post.
  2. Just wanted to update this post. I decided to go with JL Audio C1-650 component speakers and the necessary brackets and harnesses from crutchfield after speaking with several different representatives. I chose these speakers specifically because they can run on relatively low power which is important because the factory head unit doesn't put out much and I don't currently have plans to install an amp. I've also learned that ALL tweeter replacements require custom fitting and a little bit of DIY to replace. They fit into the spot in the door where the factory tweeters are but you need to cannabalize the factory tweeter for its wire and splice it to the new tweeter because nobody sells harnesses for the tweeter itself. You also need to make some sort of custom mount to keep the new tweeters in the door (you could use silicon, a little metal bracket, chewing gum, etc.). For now, I am likely going to just replace the woofers (lower speakers) in both doors because like Izzy said, there's not really any need to go through the hassle to replace the factory tweeters when they work just fine. I will update this post again after I install my speakers.
  3. Hi, I have already spoken with crutchfield to ask this same question and was ironically enough directed to these forums because they said that I would likely have better luck here
  4. I have a blown passenger door lower speaker in my MKZ so I have been looking into replacement options on Crutchfield. However, I am uncertain of whether I should go with a 2 way speaker or a component system since I have heard that replacing the tweeters on this car isn't just plug and play like the lower door speakers. I could use recommendations on 1.) whether I should go with 2 way speakers or a component system and 2.) how I would go about replacing the tweeters if I do go with components as I can't find any videos of the process anywhere. Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated
