Hi Sam, did you try to perform a master reset of the unit and add your vehicle again?

when my embedded modem was frozen I did the Master reset but made no difference, but the battery disconnect woke up the modem and started responding, but no update to Location, the App was showing an address that was 2 weeks old, then it changed to Unable to locate.

Ps: I too could not upload the .XML file, it said there was a problem with the upload.

Hi Sam. If you downloaded the SYNC update from the Lincoln Owners website while you were signed in for your vehicle, then you are fine. If it is a "bootleg" update you downloaded from somewhere else on the Internet, I would recommend you do not do it.

Be sure to follow the instructions from the Lincoln Owners website. Keep the car running the entire time, I find it best to do when you have an hour plus drive planned, as opposed to keeping the car running while sitting in the driveway.

Take your time and don't rush things. I found that one time when I updated, the system gave me an "Update Complete, remove USB and restart car to complete". However, that screen promptly disappeared and the update continued after several minutes. So even if the update states it is complete, wait at least ten minutes before removing the USB and restarting your car (see information in posts above).

That is the some advice I can offer, from my own experience.

Let us know how you make out and good luck.

Hello and thank you for your insight on this and several priors, eventually I updated successfully, but still have a small problem with the lincoln way.

It all started when I no longer could talk or perform any of the functions with the app.(no reply from vehicle as per Concierge) long story short I restored those functions by disconnecting the 12v battery for 20 min.

all the functions but one, vehicle location still does not work..."Unable to locate". I was hoping the software update would solve that, clearly my commands are reaching the vehicle !!! right ?

could it be the server is blocking this function, but it did work. I will wait till Monday and call them again.

All good now after app reinstall on my phone.

  3.  Hi all,

I prepared a usb with the update files for my 2015 MKZ H, with Sync Lincoln touch.

I am kinda nervous about doing the update in case something goes wrong and end up BRICKing the unit.

What are the risks here in case of incorrect or corrupted files on the usb, would the update just fail and remain working on

    the current software or what?

    thank you in advance.

thank you, this worked on 2015 MKZ H, did (dry run)activate and deactivate worked ok, but at the end of the deactivate it said something about " parking brake.limited function service required."

however the parking brake holds ok, so what does this message mean ? thank you in advance.

Interesting. I have a spare sunroof from my first 91 LSC SE. I might try to find out what light does get through it before spending the time to install a solar panel under one.

I installed my solar panel under the rear windshield, if you have a Hybrid it makes all the sense to install there since the 12V battery is in the trunk. my panel seems to be making a difference, as the car sat unused for 4 days and still did not die as it has done before,, the voltage dropped to 11.87V but still enough to start it. eventually will have to replace the battery, it is probably the original (2015 MKZ \hybrid.

If this is the original battery, it is about 5 years old. It just may be time for a new one.

it is a Ford battery, didn't take it out to see the date stamp, even it looks very clean it can still be the original.(just bought the car)

What surprises me is the low capacity of 390 CCA. I am guessing this battery does not run any heavy loads.

  7. (2015 MKZ Hybrid)

Suffered a completely dead 12V battery this week, after the car hasn't been driven for 4 days, anyway I managed to boost it under the hood as I could not get into the trunk.

the past couple of days I've been running it for 5 minutes on remote start.

Today I installed a solar panel (2,5 W or 5 W), placed the panel by the rear windshield near the speakers. it was an easy direct hook up to the 12v Battery in the trunk.

Hopefully this will keep the battery topped up.

Hi Sam.  Which part was right? A mistake during the procedure or was the code displayed backwards?

The information can be helpful to others. Let us know and good luck. ?

I may have been off on at least 2 items.

1)orientation of the keys in the slot, need to put buttons-side down.

2)Overall time limit of 30 seconds exceeded.

Neither one is mentioned in the instructions, so once I corrected these 2 items the code appeared in correct order (not backwards)

Thank you again, that probably saved me $100+ at the dealer, although this feature is kind of redundant, but may come in handy.

Hi Sam.  Yes, the Owners Manual instructions from your Owners manual work, if you have two programmed IKT fobs. When it does not work, it is usually due to user error/missing or incorrectly performing some part of the instructions, such as only having one correctly programmed key, putting the keys into the backup slot incorrectly, taking too long to perform the steps, etc.

One caveat: There have been cases of the code being displayed backwards. So it may display 1-2-3-4-5, when the actual code is 5-4-3-2-1.

Keep us updated and good luck.

Right you are, it worked the first time...thank you

  10. Anyone managed to pull the door code using the instructions on pages 72,73. user's manual

I followed the instruction on those pages without luck.

    [Displaying the Factory Set Code
Note: You will need to have two
programmed intelligent access keys for this
    procedure.
To display the factory-set code in the
    information display:
    1. Remove the rubber covering (A) in the
    cupholder. Place the first programmed
key in the backup slot (B) at the bottom
    of the cupholder.
    2. Press the START/STOP button once and
    wait a few seconds.
    3. Press the START/STOP button again and
    remove the key.

    4. Insert the second programmed key into
the backup slot, then press the
    START/STOP button.
The factory-set code will appear in the
information display for a few seconds.
Note: The code may not display until after
any other warning messages first display]

Thank you in advance, I am trying to avoid a trip to the dealer.

  11. hi bbf2530,

I ended up getting the 16", as the seller used them on MKZH 2014, they are Michelin Xice Xi3, they even have the pressure sensors, and the price was great as well, the tread ? well 3 seasons at least left on them.

So I figure they should fit with no problem, since they were used on 2014, I have 2015.

I also noticed there is at least 4" of clearance with the 19", currently, so there should be at least 2.5" of clearance left with the 16".

the only downside to the 16" is I lose 1.9% on my mileage. (about 8 miles per tank full)

    Cheers.

  12. Hi All..I am shopping for a used set of snows, for my 2015 MKZH/found one 215/60/16 my summer's are 245/40/19, I know the overall is within 2%, but wondering about the clearance around the rotors/ from the 16" rim. what's everyone with snows  using?

Owner's manual is of no help on this topic. Thank you

Hi Sam.  One way to tell is what material is your headliner?  Black Labels have a microsuede/alcantara headliner material.  Other models have the regular fabric type headliner material.

Black Labels also have a leather topped dash and door panels, different wheels, different wood, badging etc.  But the easiest way to tell (in my opinion) is simply to look at the headliner material.  Easy to tell the difference.

Let us know what you find out and good luck.

Hi again, based on the criteria you listed, my car is NOT a Black Label, no suede headliner, just a synthetic perforated in white, and no wood, silver trim instead, the dash is leather and the doors are part leather the top 6 inches. No badges either.

Interesting, so it's the new cars too. My Lincoln Mark VII's have all been tough on batteries if the car isn't driven regularly.

I've found an idea that can keep up with the drain, if there is a solar panel sized close to the sunroof inside perimeter. I haven't found one I like yet that fits, I want one 28"x13" I believe it is, to fit the clear glass surface. I have a controller that if it will make 30-40watts, that will maintain a battery that has normal current draw on it while unused. We'll see, I haven't made time to ask around of the sellers of flexible solar panels.

I  experimented with solar panel, and found that the sunroof , since it is tinted does not pass on sufficient amount  of the sunlight to the panel, the windshield was best place to capture most of the sun light.( I know panel on and panel off..not too convenient but helps an idle battery stay strong)

the average LED bulb consumes about 20Ma, I am sure the car electronics use a lot more, but being a Hybrid, I dunno (yet) if High voltage battery shares with the load.I have a clip-on ammeter, I will try to measure the draw on the 12v Battery and report back. cheers.

I like this sound , I call it " The sound of the future " .  Good luck with the car , I had a 2013 and now 2016 MKZh , I am completely happy with this car !

I should've specified that the audible on the Mazda ONLY sounds when you activate your signal while a vehicle is in the blind spot.

Me too loving my 2.0H, still discovering all the features, I am wondering if it is a Black Label, is it possible, does anyone know how to tell.

  16. I have a question about the Blind spot monitoring, I cannot figure out how to turn the audible warning for it, the feature is turned on in the settings but no sound to warn you on the light in the mirror, I have a Mazda that does both light and a choice of 2 audibles.(2015 MKZ Hybrid)

Got my car back, The dealer hears the noise but can not locate it, They had the car for 5 days, I was told it is most likely the electric motor turning and that is the sound it makes,

Since the car is still covered by lincoln for the next 3 years if there is any change ill have to bring it back in

Does anyone with the hybrid notice any whine from the electric motor at around 30mph and above, Not loud but there is a whine.

Hello all, I just joined this forum.

I just bought a used 2015 MKZ Hybrid, and yes mine makes that sound, and it changes pitch with vehicle's speed, I noticed it the first time I test drove it, it sound like an electric motor, you have the main propulsion motor and another in the tranny (eCVT), I read somewhere this CVT does not use a belt, instead it uses an electric motor.

So you have 2 possible sources for that sound, and it isn't necessarily a bad sound of something wrong, I am not concerned.
