  1. Today
  2. Yesterday
  3. Well, it's been exactly one year of owning this car, and I definitely am happy with my choice. I brought in in to the dealership last Tuesday for an oil chance and the Annual Detailing. And damn, when I finally picked it up yesterday, which was exactly one year to the day that I first drove it home, the car was so clean that it had that same brand new look to it, every spot was spotless, inside & out. I could have picked it up on Thursday, but it was raining and the awesome parts service woman said there was no need to pick it up in crappy weather. Friday was a workday for me, so I picked it up on Saturday. The only issue I've had in the year, is a current blown speaker in the passenger door, causing a small vibration, and is on order now. I am hoping that this car is as rock solid as my 07 Fusion was. Super clean Z The trunk carpet had evenly directional vacuum marks, like a baseball field. My loaner was a brand new 2019 MKZ, and I was the first driver to use it. Nothing was set up, I had to do it all, Audio, clock, and all the menu options. It was a total opposite of mine, white on white, 2.0 Reserve I, with 14 speaker Revel system. It had Sync 3 Version 3.3, which gives you a choice of display background colors, well 2 shades of 2 color options anyway. I never understood why we don't have a choice of background colors at all, give me a damn color selection already, let me match the ambient lighting.

    SiriusXM subscription offers?

I agree with you guys on Sirius quality, it's pretty low overall, with some channels compressed more than other channels, but none sound really good. I mainly listen to my music on my Ipod Touch, which sounds awesome on most of my music. Some live performances that I've downloaded almost make me feel like I'm there at the concert, and I do crank it up. That's probably why I have a blown speaker in my passenger door, new one is on order by the dealer, waiting on it due to a delay in delivery. But sometimes I just want to hear something other than my own music, and the FM selection (HD channels too) here is a joke, which I really can't understand being that I have NYC radio stations here. So once in a while i go to Sirius for some tunage, and since it's cheap I'll likely keep a subscription.

I can't even listen to Sirius music anymore since getting the Revel system.

    3.0T Exhaust Tubing Size

I haven't measured personally yet but I read another members post about adding borla xs pro mufflers to his car and the part number he used was 2.5" inlet and outlet. Looking at the piping from underneath I would say that looks right.
  7. I tried searching, but don’t seem to see it; what is the exhaust tubing diameter of the 3.0T specifically from the cats back?

  9. I'm pretty pleased with the life of the brake pads on my 2014 3.7 Both front and rear pads were still OEM original at 137,000 miles. I had to change the oil and rotate the tires today, so I decided to do the rear pads. I bought a front/rear set of Wagner Thermoquiet Ceramic (#QC1665) pads months ago thinking replacement was imminent. I"m glad that I pulled the rears, they were down to 4 mm. The fronts still look like 10-12 mm thick, easy, so they'll go a bit longer. No squealers on new pads these days, so you need to pay attention. The rotors feel great, which is also amazing. I usually warp mine around 125k, from previous vehicle experience (and then just live with it) Getting the rear Electronic Parking break into maintenance mode took a bit of fiddling, but easy enough. I bought the piston tool to rotate the piston in, but that wasn't necessary, they simply push back. Getting a c-clamp into position was a little tricky. A standard piston pusher would have been the way to go, I'll pick up one (my gave up the ghost a few years ago, a c-clamp was then put into action). But the electronic motor for the EPS interferes with the c-clamp positioning, and you definitely don't want to damage any of those components.
  10. I have looked everywhere with no answer. I have seen youtube videos with people removing the timing cover in the car, but they all seem to skip showing the step of them removing the cover in the car. Is there a simple step that you have to do to be able to remove the cover in the car? I need to get into the water pump so I can install my new one. I also want to replace the oil pump and timing components while I have it apart. I don't want to have to pull the engine, but it is looking that way to me at this point. Any help of how to get the cover out will help greatly. it is loose and I just need to be able to find the trick to pull it out of there. Thanks.

Way better than Sirius but that's a low bar.

    Ventvisors

If that is what Tom was referring to, I had them on my 2013. Didn't really think much about them. They were on the car when I bought it. However, like every thing else, you don't realize what you have til you lose it. When I bought my 2017, just cracking the window for air during any type of precipitation is a wetting experience if you don't have them. I may buy a set but they are not on the top of my list at this time.

HD radio really is great sounding. I'm on the outskirts of Philly reception but when I can get it it sounds miles better than Sirius.

    Ventvisors

Hi Tom. I am assuming you mean side window deflectors? If yes...Are side window deflectors/"ventvisors" worth it? That all depends on your personal opinion, preference and what you may need them for. I would assume if you are a smoker, it would allow you to crack the window/windows a few inches without allowing rain in the car. I guess the same could be said for those who may want to leave their cars locked/unattended with a window/windows cracked open for a short period of time, to keep the car cooler in the summer Speaking as a person who does not have them or need them for any of the above reasons, I don't see a lot of use for them, but that is only my opinion. If you want them, I have heard good things about the WeatherTech brand. They are attached in-channel instead of attached by adhesive, which I would consider to be better.: https://www.weathertech.com/side-window-deflectors/ EDIT - Just checked and WeatherTech does not have a side window deflector model available for the 2016 MKZ. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I read about that 3 years/$99 offer online. I guess that you can't really believe everything posted on the interwebs.

    Sync Freezing Up

I had it in last week and they replaced the APIM and the FPIM. It has not froze up since, and my phone is not connecting/disconnecting all the time now. I am hoping that this solved the problem. Sadly, now the first little door on the console is out of alignment, I supposed because they had to remove it.

    Rim Corrosion

Well, after checking around a bit, it looks like these rims are pretty hard to come by. The ones that are out there are already reconditioned, so who knows what kind of damage they may have had. I decided to take it in and see if it can be repaired. I have an appointment next Wednesday. They said that a repair cost starts at $140. it is on the back side of the rim, so I am not too worried about how it will look. I am more concerned about how long the weld will last.

    Ventvisors

Hi first post. Anybody using ventvisors? Are they worth it? Photos please.

    Devin's 2014 MKZ

Heh, its like looking at a MKZ version of my 2014 Fusion, which used to be Sterling Grey as well. The H&R Springs were good. Only had some times where the bottom front bumper panel would happen to scrape, but nothing too bad given the drop. Looks great Devin! You would probably be fine putting that rear motor mount on if you wanted, plus the front wheel hop reduction is nice. Now its the transmission mount that would be more...*ahem* noticeable with vibration increase, while the engine mount is just a pain to install because of that huge bolt. That Edge ST was very underwhelming, so its great to hear you're sticking to the MKZ! If I didn't lose mine, now I would have upgraded both the downpipes and seek a more optimized exhaust to really let the 3.0 flow to the fullest.

    Smartlink Dongle

Out of all the lincolns - the 2013 MKz is an exception on the SMARTLINK Dongle list - Does anyone know why? Thanks

Hi fusionff. Too bad you could not get that 3 years for $99 offer. I wonder if it ever was an actual offer? Thanks for posting back with your results.

    3.0T Performance Modifications

I still lurk and participate. I await to see if a MKZ replacement comes for 2020 MY, before I cave to buying a Mustang GT and get a Lincoln later. Seriously I'd just like the Aviator's GT setup to be in a MKZ-like body. Or even a Continental and I'll be right back in the Black Label line (Destination interior is sweet). Anyways feel free (to anyone) to PM me in regards to my thoughts and opinions involving the 2.0 and 3.0.
  25. This is where the cable comes out from the inside the passenger side right above the edge of the rug.

I got the usual 6 months Sirius Select deal for $30, he said he couldn't do the $60 for the year offer. Him: How about 5 months for $35? ------- Me: No. Him: How about 6 months for $35? ------- Me: No. Him: Since you've been such a loyal customer, I can offer you 6 months for $30. Is that good? ------ Me: Yeah, ok.

    Devin's 2014 MKZ

Lol. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m all in on the MKZ again. I now want to get through my lease so I can make some tweaks to it like exhaust, black out the trim, and the rear motor mount. Another year to go.
