    Automatic settings?

chris109, "last settings" just doesn't work on my '14 I guess. I've tried the setting several times - just doesn't work.
  4. I just purchased this 2016 MKZ Hybrid and had to take it back to the dealership as they didnt' change the oil and such. I had driven the car for about 4 days prior with mute on so i could listen to the engine and used to the sounds it makes (prior vehicle was Chrysler 300 - loved that car). All was fine. Pick up car last night go home, start car this morning and as i'm backing out i hear a slight whirring/buzzing sound VERY LOW and it comes on for approx. 10-15 seconds, goes off and back - like something is cycling. Since dealership messed with all my settings I turned off heating/ac - still heard the sound, so that's not it. turned off ECO mode, that's not it, was already on MUTE, just not sure what it could be. This is my first hybrid so i was diligent in listening to the engine those first few days of driving - i could't tell when the Elec came on or switched to Gas, it was that quiet...now i sort of feel it. UGH - i hate dealeships so bad, i've had nothing but bad outcomes at every dealership service shop i've ever gone to - so maybe it's just ME thinking they did something, but I do know that the sound was not there before, and if the music is on nobody would even notice. Just checking to see i anyone knows that this is normal or not.

    Automatic settings?

Not sure if this is to what you were referring. Last Settings You can set the climate control to operate using the last climate control settings through the information display setting: Remote Start > Climate Control > Heater–A/C > Last Settings. The climate control system automatically uses the settings last selected before turning off the vehicle Automatic Settings You can set the climate control to operate in AUTO mode through the information display setting: Remote Start > Climate Control > Heater-A/C > Auto. The climate control system automatically sets the interior temperature to 72°F (22°C). In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F (22°C). The heated seats and heated steering wheel are set to high (if available, and selected to AUTO in the information display). The rear defroster and heated mirrors automatically turn on.

    Automatic settings?

On my 2017, I set the auto temp to 'med'. I remote start the car and let it run for 10-15 minutes. Nice and toasty when I get in. But, when I 'start' the car, seat is heated to 3 lights, and steering wheel heat is 'on'. There are times where I purposely shut those 2 things off when I head in for the night, but they seem to go back to full when I physically start the car. I am assuming this happens because I have the auto feature on. Maybe this happens with certain auto settings. As an aside, every once in a while, if the car is left facing the sun or I have been driving a while and the interior is all warmed up, when I restart after a short amount of time, the a/c for the seats engages. Rare, but it happens.

    2020 Explorer 3.0

Performance SUVs are the new hot thing. It was only a matter of time before Ford used the 3.0 on something more profitable (and since they have basically no cars left in the U.S., it would need to be an SUV or truck). Doesn't really bother me because it should lead to enhanced versions of the engine. The Explorer ST already gets a plus 15 in torque. But it isn't like it is really competing in the driving arena with a sedan; that Explorer will be a beast to drive compared to the much smaller/lower profile SUV. Regardless of the suspension and trans, it will be ungainly in comparison. However, the 10 speed will be interesting to see and hopefully they can mate a similar version to the Lincolns in the near future. Ford can produce some great engines when they want. They can also take a really nice engine (see: Ford Taurus SHO) and just let it wither and die... Hopefully, this will not be the case with future Lincoln sedans.

    Adaptive cruise

Hi Stardaddyed. Short answer is no. Your non-factory adaptive cruise control equipped MKZ is missing the necessary equipment/sensors, so it is not hack-able. And it would be cost prohibitive to add, as you surmised. However, enjoy your new MKZ and good luck.

    Adaptive cruise

I know this is probably a self evident (e.g.stupid) question/answer but you never know. I had to buy a used 2017 MKZ Reserve basically because I am opposed to pay $40k+ for a car because I am cheap (and not that well off) but I could find a used MKZ with adaptive cruise. I really wanted that since I drive the highway everyday. Is the feature hidden and hack-able (I doubt it) or addable (probably cost prohibitive)? Like i said neither is likely but thought I would ask the community. Thanks in advance. Star

    Automatic settings?

So a follow up on what I "discovered" for MY vehicle. No software switch is OK just didn't know ( thanks droid1). On the remote start, the heaters and climate control do come on but the lights do not come on to indicate that. When I "start" the car (when you get in), everything shuts off. I have to manually turn everything back on. Also if you start the car with the button the seats and steering wheel does not turn on. The climate control does come on either case. Now I have found here and other places online that might indicate that the issue may be a software bug that may be resolved by a dealer reset or by disconnecting the battery thus initiating a reboot. I will try that and let everyone know. Shoot on the autobrake. I would think it is a dangerous method of implementation. If you use it you would get used to it. If you forgot to put in on one time you could inadvertently roll someplace to you don't want to be! Thanks for the help! Ed
  13. I spoke to my repair rep Last Thursday and Lincoln is recommending changing the Catalytic.... just waiting for them to say the part is in....we'll see Meantime I went to look at the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV-GT - Very impressive mileage for a SUV hybrid but it is also a plug-in Update.... called them again yesterday (Tues), they say the part is in but are looking to line up a loaner as the change will take most of the day

    2020 Explorer 3.0

3.0 on Ford Explorer ST confirmed, so there it is with Ford taking the Lincoln exclusive. Knew it was coming. Mated with the 10-speed transmission, boosted torque up to 415 and its RWD based. So jealous, and tempts me to the SUV side...though may not have dynamic torque vectoring (yet)? https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a25861043/2020-ford-explorer-st-400-horsepower-photos-info/

    3.0T oil change ?

There is a yellow drain plug on the oil pan. You do not need to remove any covers to access it, and pretty easy to spot. As stated before, loosen the oil dipstick and filter housing first then untwist and pull the plug out quickly once ready to collect. Align the edge of whatever container or pan you use to collect oil, as it will flow forward at an angle like a water fountain due to some pressure, it does not flush straight down. Edge of collection container should line up with the drain plug. Do that for a non-messy change. Once oil is drained, attach the plug back. Finally after changing the filter, you can seal it up, close the oil dipstick, and fill 6 quarts of new oil. Wait 10-15 mins then check the dipstick (system has a check valve so accurate reading upon filling is not exact). As long oil fills the bottom hole and within hash marks when around ambient temperature, all is good.

    Automatic settings?

" also, they will come on if they were activated when you last shut the car off." I can't figure this out on my '14. I always have to hit the seats and wheel buttons after I start vehicle. One of the few annoyances I have with my "14. What am I missing?

    3.0T oil change ?

Having the filter on top of the engine will make it really easy. Is there a "hatch" in the cover underneath to drain the oil or does the whole cover have to come off?

    3.0T oil change ?

The filter is pretty straightforward. Along with changing the filter, you also change the O-rings as new ones come with the filter. The only challenging part is replacing the smallest O-ring, which small pliers should help flex it on. Or heat it up, lube it with some oil, and it should go on easier.
  20. I'm super interested in this. Any chance I can get some help pointing me in the right direction? I seem to come up empty when searching for FCIM for a 2017 MKZ. Thanks

    Automatic settings?

Welcome to the forums, Stardaddyed. Enjoy your MKZ. It is awesome! 1.By "turn on," I assume you mean the climate control function, not the multi-contour function. In the former case, no. You must use the switches. It can't be done via the touchscreen. 2. The climate controlled seats and heated steering wheel will come on if you select that feature in the Remote Start menu. Also, they will come on if they were activated when you last shut the car off. 3. The Auto Hold can only be activated with the switch. It defaults to off when the car is shut off. IDK if Forscan could make that happen. It would be nice if they copied how M-B does it; you just press the brake pedal all the way down when stopped and the Auto Hold is activated.

    Automatic settings?

I just purchased a 2017 MKZ Premier. It is awesome and has a great ride. Love it so far. Is there a way to turn on the seats from from the display? In my Ram truck I can turn on the seats from the screen and I was wondering if the MKZ could do the same. Are the heated seat supposed to come on automatically if it is cold outside? Again my trucks seats look at the outside temp and if it is cold outside the heated seats turn on. It doesn't do that for the steering wheel but it does for the seats. Does the MKZ do that as well? I've looked on line, in the manual, etc. and I can't find anything. Can the brake assist be set to come on when the car is started as well? Mine does not switch on when the car starts. I actually like the feature but I would like it to come on all the time. Thanks in advance. Ed
  23. You may have just broken your bluetooth phone connection - it uses the center speaker I believe.

    New Owner - 2017 MKZ 3.0 AWD

The defective heads get replaced. This has been discussed in the forums by owners who had the work done. Here's one thread. You can find others by suing the 'Search' function, keyword- "heads."

    3.0T oil change ?

I have changed my oil for a long time, but have never changed a cartridge type filter. Is there anything special I need to know? Does the filter need to go in a certain way? Thanks!

    New Owner - 2017 MKZ 3.0 AWD

Thanks for the link to the main description of the TSB, that helps. Curious too, do you know if the correction was a new head design etc, or an assembly repair or change?
