I just bought a '14 MKZ, and I like everything about the car... except the steering wheel, which is basically the same as what's in a Fusion. The '16 MKZ steering wheel has a MUCH nicer feel to it, the rim is thicker and the leather is much softer and it feels much better in the hand. I'd really like to pull my steering wheel and swap it out for a '16 version, particularly the very nice looking Black Label version. The '16 wheel looks the same on the outside - same airbag cover, switches, etc, but I don't know if there were any internal changes that would make this impossible. Would really appreciate any help.

I want to swap the steering wheel on my '15 too.  The '16 heated wheel is much improved.  My heated wheel barely gets warm.  It's almost a waste of time.

What led you to conclude that the '16 wheel gets warmer than yours? If so, how do you know that's due to the wheel itself or something else such as, software or the heated steering wheel module?

For the record, the wheel in my 2014 got quite warm. Have you ever taken it in for service for this?

Anyone have a comparison of the pre-16 vs the '16 wheel? I guess I hadn't noticed the difference.
