MGS131 Posted June 27, 2020 Has anyone else had an issue when using the power trunk to close, that the trunk lid is scraping the rear pillar? The pic with the yellow circle shows the area which is worn down to bare metal. 2018 model year. I can see the rubber seal is distorted, pushed to one side. (I’ll bring it to the dealer when our shelter in place relaxes) Until then, just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. Thanks...
drolds1 Posted June 27, 2020 Yes, it has come up before but not lately. See this thread, which could be found using the Search function above : https://lincolnmkzforum.com/topic/594-beware-power-trunk-owners/
scn101 Posted June 30, 2020 This is also happening to my 2019.
TomV Posted July 22, 2020 (edited) Just noticed it on my 2019 as well. I may just touch it up myself and put a small scrap piece of invisible mask film over it. Or the hinge bracket, that bolts on the underside of the trunk lid, might be loosened and adjusted. Edited July 22, 2020 by TomV
Chris109 Posted July 25, 2020 I just manually close the trunk now...slowly.
TomV Posted July 26, 2020 I fixed mine. Partly removed the cover on the underside of the trunk to access the hinge. One hinge bolt was in a slotted hole, but the other wasn’t. So I drilled out that other hole a bit larger to get some adjustment. I probably got a 1/16” or 1/8” extra clearance from the back window now on the driver side. I also put washers between the trunk lid and hinge to lift it slightly so the body gap matched the other side for a nicer look. 1 R2D2 reacted to this
