gtsnake Posted April 7, 2017 Does anyone know of a good place to tap into accessory power to hard wire a radar detector? I tapped a terminal in the fuse box but the power stays on even after a shut the car off so I don't want to drain the battery.
drolds1 Posted April 7, 2017 There are a number of circuits in the 2013+ cars' bcm that you would think are switched but turn out to be "hot" all the time. I have my dashcam connected to fuse#36,using a Add-a-Circuit. That circuit is switched.
R2D2 Posted April 8, 2017 (edited) Wasn't there someone here that tapped the power in the mirror for a radar detector? I found it - look here in posts 4 & 5 to the thread http://lincolnmkzforum.com/topic/1266-14-mkz-hidden-radar-detector-cord/?hl=radar Edited April 8, 2017 by R2D2
ChadPounder Posted February 7, 2021 Fuse #36 is indeed a winner (mine is a 2018). Switched power, perfect for my radar detector. Fuse tap easy to connect (especially with the awkardly placed fuse box). Interesting how the fuses you think would be switched power are actually constant on? I was about to give up when I tried #36 as a last resort. These cars are weird, electrically.
