jimflutes Posted December 27, 2015 With the weather so warm ( 60 Christmas eve ), I put a coating of Optiumn's Gloss coat on the Z. This is the newest paint protection from Optiumn company, cost $36.00 on amazon , goes on very easy , no rubbing off , the finish will last two years and the car has a deep shine. Beside doing the whole car it coats the wheels and all plastic trim. Now all ready for anything winter can bring. Merry Christmas to all. AZ MKZ h Posted December 27, 2015 Great tip on car wax, especially the 'easy to apply' information. I've been a die hard Meguires product fan [last used was the clay bar kit and my car was cleaner than new...and easy to do plus wax]. I'll check into the Optimum's Gloss coat - would make my white platinum met paint look great.

blumagic Posted December 29, 2015 Thanks for the advice, after i picked up my MKZ I clayed it with mothers claybar kit then I waxed it with Griot's show wax $25 a bottle and I also brought the Griot's speed shine very good stuff, it really makes the Black Stand out
jimflutes Posted December 29, 2015 blumagic , You can not go wrong with any Griot products as they are top of the line . However the appeal for me of the Gloss coat is that for two years I will not have to wax and the paint will be protected with a film of extra clear coat. , for me this is ideal because of a recent shoulder operation. GC is the new version of Opti-coat 2.0 (3-5 year protection) ,which I used three years ago and the car still looks like it was just waxed by just washing it. What I really like about GC is that it has a deeper shine then the opti-coat 2.0.,also it will accept any kind of wax topping if you still want to wax now and then.I was skeptical of the claims until I read reviews from pro detailers , then used it myself. Hey whatever we use you can not go wrong by keeping the car looking good and protecting the paint.

jimflutes Posted January 5, 2016 bluemagic , Well it seems that since I posted in Dec. the price shot up to 55.00 (ebay), I got it for 39.00 on Autogeek , I think the word has spread so they are all getting the higher price. But if you wait you may get it on sale come spring. Good luck , Jim
