BlackPano Posted July 7, 2015 What do you guys think of this? I do not want to go total black out with my '13. I like the grey wheels and other chrome accents, but I am thinking a plasti-dip job on the grille could look nice and be reversible if I decided it didn't look right (or just got tired of it). Please excuse my 2 minute photo hack job. vs. 1 Robert Iggy Cerami reacted to this
2015mkzhybrid Posted July 7, 2015 I like the blacked-out look for a black car. Nice concept
BlackPano Posted July 7, 2015 Thanks, I know it won't be everyone's favorite but it looked pretty good to me. I know some really like a good bit of chrome on a black car. I totally get that. I believe I saw a red '15 or '16 with a black grille. It looked pretty nice as well. I'm not sure I would want to keep it that way though. I do like red and chrome and if changing the grille color I tend to stick with body color. Is the tuxedo black a metallic, pearl, or both?
Robert Iggy Cerami Posted July 7, 2015 Tuxedo Black is both

BlackPano Posted July 8, 2015 So here are two additional options only painting the inside part of the grille and then one only the outside. &
JoeBrown Posted July 8, 2015 I like the only inside treatment best of all. I'm not a fan of blackout grills. I never really liked it on my Lincoln LS and replaced it with an LSE grill.
BlackPano Posted July 8, 2015 I like the only inside treatment best of all. I'm not a fan of blackout grills. I never really liked it on my Lincoln LS and replaced it with an LSE grill. That is the way I am leaning as well. I might not end up doing anything at all, but figured if I made these pictures I could look at them for a while and see which one still looks good to me after a few weeks. bdegrand Posted August 6, 2015 What do you use on your tires to make them look that good?
tgara Posted August 9, 2015 I'm with Joe.... I like the inside-only treatment, leaving a chrome surround. That looks best to my eye. I think it goes really well with your wheels.
BlackPano Posted August 15, 2015 What do you use on your tires to make them look that good? That is actually not my car (pics were before I had mine) but I use a wet tire shine by McGuire's that looks similar. I've found that by using a wax applicator I can work the product in better, I use less, it looks more natural, lasts longer, and there is no slinging onto the wheels. wm519 Posted April 30, 2017 (edited) I went halfway. Blacked out every other rib. Just tested it with black tape. Edited April 30, 2017 by wm519
MediumWilly22 Posted May 1, 2017 I like them all. The full black is my favorite
2013MKZ Posted May 2, 2017 I would do the slats black but leave the surrounding chrome... saw one like that when I was looking for mine and really thought it looked sharp!
jmcgliss Posted May 3, 2017 Every other rib looks sharp. Second choice is black center with chrome surround.
carbuff442 Posted May 10, 2017 i like the black grills with chrome surround best. total black out looks good too but imho only on a black car, might not work that well on any other color. the Every Other one is my 2nd fav
Black Ice MKZ Posted April 21, 2018 (edited) I like the "all black" and the "only inside/chrome surround" The 'every other" looks to "Honda" to me...but I'm old Not sure how much it will match the tuxedo metal flake though...but I do like the look. The car you chose for your experiment is a Black Label with "center stage" theme...seen a couple for sale...nice.
