    Livernois Tune Times...

That's why I go to the drag strip, to let it all hang out and have fun so on the street I can be mellow. The Mustang ran that 11.7@121 on the stock craptastic Goodyear All Weather tires so she she could easily have gone 11.5 with real tires. The car is still at Ford because apparently very few people know how to rebuild the 10r80 so I'm in a line, this year is looking to be a low miles year so I'm looking at the positives. My MKZ on the street doesn't have wheel hop issues, thankfully they just squeal a bit and the car is off like a rocket. I haven't and don't street race my cars but it's nice to know what they're capable of. Car and Driver calls the 400hp MKZ hilariously over powered, I call it hilariously entertaining. :)

    Livernois Tune Times...

I only have the tune, when cold it jerks into 2nd and sometimes 3rd which is frustrating and once when going WOT from a light the rev limiter kicked in at 5500rpm and I had to back off. It hasn't done that since but I worry about drag racing the car as my 2018 A10 GT transmission blew at the drag strip so I'm a bit gun shy right now. 12.6 is very nice! I'm hoping for a 13.0 with the 93 tune with nothing else done.

I wish I knew, hopefully somebody with knowledge of the 2.0 can chime in. Have you taken yours to the drag strip yet to baseline it?

They claim there will be a replacement likely called the Zephyr but who knows, it may be Audi for me next as well if they get rid of all Lincoln sedans.

    Livernois tune for 3.0TT MKZ

I own a 2018 A10 Mustang GT, yeah it's untouchable unless somebody has done more than an intercooler and tune on the 3.0 but soooo many 2017 and older Mustang's will be shocked when they run the MKZ, even if they win the MKZ will be pretty close. I race a guy who bought a new 2017 Mustang GT 5spd for a few grand less than a new 18 would cost and we raced at GLD, he ran a 13.2 to my 12.1, needless to say he was a bit upset at the difference in performance. I believe he got it down to a 13.0 by the end of the day. I'm just hoping the MKZ can handle a few go rounds at the drag strip this Spring. My dealer was fine with me installing a Supercharger on my new 2006 Mustang GT, we'll see how it goes if something breaks on the MKZ. Ford is dumping the Fusion so I can't imagine they'd keep building the MKZ? Maybe they'll redesign it and call it something else but I'm not holding my breath, this new CEO has it in his head all cars must go except for the Mustang, I can't stand the guy but Bill Ford likes him so he will be around a while.

    Livernois tune for 3.0TT MKZ

I drove 14 hours yesterday, we decided to get it over with. The transmission exhibited an abrupt 1-2 shift a few times but averaging 72 mph for the entire trip I averaged 27.7 mpg, one reason is because on my way home a guy in a Honda Accord V6 drove straight up my tailpipe going around a long curve merging off of 290 West to get onto Rt 20. I put the car into sport mode and gav it some gas, now it's true the MKZ is no Sport sedan but it actually does better than other non Sport sedans in the twisties. He couldn't keep up and of course we ended up next to each other at the stop light where I figured I'd just let him go but no, I looked over to my left and he and his girlfriend looked like they thought they were going to whup on an old fart in his old fart Lincoln. The light went green, he gave it everything he had, I waited a sec before hitting the gas and then floored it and the car responded with the front tires screeching for grip and blowing by him like he went into reverse. What a waste of gas, I knew what the result would be and it went exactly like that but watching it happen it drove home the point that the way the MKZ sits right now if I race a stock 3v Mustang GT, a lightly or more modified 2v New Edge GT it isn't even going to be a race and it may very well scare a few gen 1 Coyote's if not give them a run. I'm trying to envision Lincoln execs as engineering has delivered to them a new 3.0 twin turbo that delivers 400hp / 400 torque, screw Ford it's about time we had some fun. I have seen other 3.0's on the road, but they are driven exactly like the 2.0's and 3.7's, very conservatively not that I expect them to be street racing but Lincoln has a rep for old folks driving slow cars. I fully intend to use that when I go to Great Lakes Dragaway this Spring, I'm going to let the car cool down when I get there and I'm going to pick and choose a few Mustang's running what I think my car will run and then I'm going to ask them if they want a go. I'm pretty sure of the responses, like, you're kidding right? I simply can't wait, who would have thought I bought a new Mustang GT April 2018 and then I would trade in a lease for what I thought might be a 3.7 MKZ only to find out it's the mighty 3.0 twin turbo that turns out to put the same kind of smile on my face when driving, incredible. 😜

I disabled the function, I'll re-enable it in the Spring.

The power folding mirrors on my MKZ have issues with very cold temps and freezing up so they don't fold. I turned the folding feature off even though the dealer says no need. Well if no need why did they have to repair them, so I'll leave that off until Spring. I also wonder about the future of the MKZ, I could see keeping mine until 2021 and then trading in for a new one with maybe a hybrid design making 450+hp and 500lbft of torque or more, I can wish. :) As for the Mustang, we'll have to see but an AWD version with more power, oh yeah that would be awesome. An option to dis-engage the front wheels for some fun like Mercedes does would be fantastic.

    Livernois tune for 3.0TT MKZ

Well, I received my Livernois tunes, a 91 and 93 octane tune. I uploaded it to my car, not exactly blown away by the tuner interface, when it was done it didn't say complete or finished, just key off ignition for 3 seconds so I figured it was done. I read the information sent with the tune and it states the transmission may shift funny while it's re-learning, that's for sure! It shifted like it was drunk at first even my wife was asking me what the hell is going on with your car?? About half way to work it seems to have sorted itself out. Throttle tip in is incredible, just a bit of throttle and boost comes on and you're passing people with zero effort. It has always done this but it's better now. Full throttle will set the front tires begging for grip until the back tires are engaged which is very fast but still, the tires are not adequate for this power level, so what the tune does give is enough to want me to get better tires. The butt dyno says the car is definitely making more power you can feel, perhaps the timing comes in sooner and higher because it honestly feels like there is more kick than before. Starting at 1/4 of the way to work I babied it and drove normal, I noticed it likes to stay in 5th longer than it did before the tune so when I hit 40mph I now paddle shift into 6th and I notice the converter seems to lock up and you can just use boost/torque to gain momentum and while doing so it doesn't use as much gas as before. Most times I tested this I am at 21/22 mpg when I get to work, today I was at 24.9 keeping in mind I had to make sure to up-shift at 40 into 6th. I haven't done a full throttle 1/4 mile run yet, but so far I'm very impressed with the acceleration. I have a 5 hour drive on Monday which should help get the transmission learning fully sorted and I plan a couple of full throttle test runs as well.

Agreed, I've only had mine for 2 months and no real road trip yet so mine is going to work 24 miles, it's just too easy to tip into boost to pass traffic with damn near no effort. Completely different way to accelerate compared to my Mustang GT.

I think getting 28 mpg hwy in a 4200lb car with AWD and 400hp is pretty economical. 😁

Zalvern, Yep, over there I'm Loki GT. :) The GT Premium 401A is an awesome package, mine is the 400A package so doesn't have the fancy LCD gagues.

Yep, Lincoln couldn't have that "Ecoboost" moniker for a Luxury brand, I found it funny when it was released that the MKZ and Continental would have the 400hp AWD version and not Ford models. That was when the decision was made to get the MKZ. I was hoping to not have to buy tires but I have to I have to, we'll see.

Oh this is all I'm doing to the Lincoln, I'm going to race it at GLD once in the Spring and that's it, daily driver with a kick. The Mustang is my performance car and will be getting all the goodies, been owning most versions of the Mustang since 1985.

I noticed the first night that at full boost all 4 tires are straining which blew my mind. I'm looking into some better ones.
