The order for my MKZ was entered on Nov 16 and today is Dec 15. I'm still being told that the order hasn't been processed by Lincoln and therefore the build hasn't been scheduled yet. Is this normal and expected? I'm completely frustrated and astonished by the inefficiency! The last car I ordered came from Europe and the longest part of the process was the transport. I'm seriously considering canceling at this point.

At a month, you should have a VIN.

Try this Ford Order Tracking page, which works on Lincoln vehicles too.

I don't have a VIN yet. Does it work with just an order number? The link didn't work for me.

Yes, it will work with your order number.  Maybe type in the site manually, below:

Thanks, fusionff! Looked it up and came back with no results. Very upsetting!

It generally takes about 8 weeks from order date to delivery for a factory order.  Your dealer should have told you that up front.  The car you ordered from Europe was probably already built or close to the scheduled build date when you ordered it.

Also, consider the holiday plant shutdown at Hermosillo.

Yes, I am aware that it takes time, however, it's been 4 weeks since the order was placed and it still hasn't been scheduled or anything. That doesn't seem normal.

Hang tight. It’ll be worth it especially if you went with the 3.0 AWD.

Ford Order Process-Start to Finish.

Ask you dealer for the DORA receipt.  They should have no trouble giving this to you.  Have you talked to the sales manager about your concerns?  You could also call the Lincoln Concierge.  They might be able to shed some light on this for you.

Thank you, drolds1. Those are some very useful suggestions that I will try out!

All I can say is be patient. The Ford/Lincoln order tracking does have some issues that need to be worked out. I can say that the company should have a little more transparency between the manufacturing plants, the selling dealership, the shipping service, and the customer. Delays are part of life. But if they happen, all parties should at least be in the loop and know why. I think lots of things happen behind the scenes that the customer or dealer never really know about.

In my experience, I ordered a 2017 MKZ Hybrid Black Label in the first week of April 2016. That was the first week Lincoln began accepting orders. I didn't get my car until the first week of September 2016. I think I have the record on this forum for the longest time between order and delivery. Between then, I never received a VIN. I was only able to get updates by bugging the dealership and calling every few days. I got bounced around between a few different people and sometimes given different/conflicting information. But eventually I got my car. I will say that all your dealer does is place the order. They don't BUILD the cars or DELIVER the cars. They simply act sorta like a franchise for Lincoln. I assure you they want to sell you this car as badly as you want to buy it. If they could speed up the process they would. So whatever you do, be nice to your dealer. Point the finger at Lincoln Motor Company.

Thank you, Myron.  I agree with everything you wrote. Although, I'm not very encouraged by your personal experience. Hopefully, I have a little better luck.  Don't worry, I'm not taking this out on the dealership.  They've been great and I know they are nearly as frustrated as I am.

That's great news, Sunless. Tell the details of your order!
