It's age old question but I like Sirius/XM service for couple channels and local traffic when on long trip.  i was able to get 1 year Sirius Select option with traffic as I find traffic feature to be useful in MKz. It'g going to cost around ~$150 one year. I was not able to get multiple years subscription with good discount.  Just wanted to see if other members are year to year auto renewal or got lucky with lifetime subscription?

I wanted to pay upfront for three years with good discount but Sirius will not offer me that.  Please share your experience dealing with Sirius/XM customer service on renewal of subscription.

I always get either '5 months for $25', or '6 months for $30' promo, which is always cheaper than a yearly subscription.  I have to call up a day or two before the 'promo' expires to 'Cancel my subscription'.  Then they always offer another one of those 2 promos to continue my subscription.  Usually it is a 7 to 8 minute phone call, and I have done this for 8 years now.  If you forget to call to cancel, (not really cancel, just get another promo deal), they will renew at a regular high rate.

Below is my last subscription deal, the $2 invoice fee is because I refuse to give them my credit card information.

Today's Purchase Details

Initial Package Subscription Term Charges
Sirius Select (5 Month - Promo) 08/10/2017 - 01/10/2018 $24.99

Invoice Fee $2.00
U.S. Music Royalty Fee $3.47
State & Local Taxes $2.10
Subscription Credit ($0.19)

Total Charges $32.37

Okay, looks like 6 months works for you. Do you get some kind of email or Satellite notification on upcoming subscription expiration?  I was hoping to get three years and pay up to $120/year but looks like they did not offer.  I will give one year a try and see.

They will not notify you when your subscription expires.  Their goal always is to auto-renew you at the high rates that they charge.  You need to know/remember when your expiration date is coming up, and call in right before that to cancel your subscription, again I say cancel, but that is just a threat to motivate them to offer another promotional deal.  They always start out with a yearly deal offer, but it's certainly no bargain rate.  I say no a few times, and then the 5 or 6 month deal is offered.

This information is on a ton of forums, and everyone gets the same deal.
