Sync - buggy

I like the interface and don't even bother with apple CarPlay. But.....

When I plug my phone in and start the car, sometimes sync 3 spots the phone. Sometimes not. I have to unplug and replug the phone to get it to recognize.

Sometimes I can select and play my podcasts. Other times I click a podcast to listen to and nothing happens. Sometimes it works fine.

Once the map refused to load. Soft reset fixed that.

Yes, I could use Bluetooth to do my phone listening but I'd rather interact with Sync 3 than the phone while driving. And charge it too.

Is my experience typical? I'm a version 2 and wifi connected. Although I can't verify if I have the latest because when checking version the thing just spins, it never confirms I have the latest version.

I have only had my car a couple hundred miles, but my iPhone 7 is always recognized and CarPlay starts automatically.

I tend to plug the phone in after starting the car.

I think only once have ever had connectivity problems and I plug my phone in almost everytime (Android phone, however). That time I just had to wait little longer and then it worked. I use sync and Android Auto, but mostly Android Auto. I usually plug the phone in before starting the car...

There is an update for the sync (for the onboard modem) and another for sync randomly restarting itself - might also address your phone connection issues
