I have a 2016 MKZ 3.7 with the upgraded THX system.

Unfortunately i am disapointed with the bass outputted by this system. I have a 12" JL Audio W6 sitting in my garage for the past three years, along with a box an amp, which I had in my old car.

I have been thinking about putting them back to use, and have a few questions.

First, how difficult will it be to tap into the THX system? I would not want to ruin anything else with it. Are there any write-ups as to how i would connect my sub and amp to the car's system? What about routing the power cable from the battery to the trunk?

Has anyone done this around here? How please were you with your setup, and what issues did you encounter?

Im looking to install my JL W6. Did you ever get your system installed? Any research you did on this would be greatly appreciated

Sorry to say, I have not. I honestly did not try. I ended up selling my subwoofer.

If you do end up doing these, please get back and tell me how it went.

Hello BigBeard I don't have the THX system but I did tap in to the rear 6x9 speakers on my 2014 MKZ and installed an amp with two sub-woofers in it.

So far it sounds great, an improvement to the sound. I have some pics in my showroom just in case you would like to check it out.

Hope this can help.

Before buying my MKZ I was expecting to install a couple of 8" IB subs in the rear deck but after living with the THX system for a week, I don't think I'll go through the trouble. The bass is loud enough to rattle the interior trim and certainly loud enough to enjoy listening to music; making it any louder would only benefit those outside of my car.
