Passinos
My 2013 MKZ hybrid is shutting the airbag off because my wife reclines a bit and only weighs 100lbs ((no complaints on her weight). Dealer said it needs 80 in the seat to turn on and because she leans back, it not enough weight. Had a 2013 fusion hybrid that did not have this problem. Anyone know how to put on all the time (we have no kids)? Thanks

SteveB_TX
Sounds odd I agree. How far back does she like to recline? Do you have the heated and cooled seats? They may have the sensor in a different location than the Fusion, since the Fusion did not offer cooled seats in 2013. Just a thought. :)

Passinos
She likes to be 60 degrees but I had her put it up normal and site cross leg with all her eight and air bag comes on. We have heated and cooled seats. Which I figured was the big difference.
drolds1
From the owner's manual: If a person of adult size is sitting in the front passenger's seat, but the airbag off indicator lamp is lit, it is possible that the person isn’t sitting properly in the seat. If this happens: • Turn the vehicle off and ask the person to place the seat back in the full upright position. • Have the person sit upright in the seat, centered on the seat cushion, with the person's legs comfortably extended. •start the vehicle and have the person remain in this position for about two minutes. This will allow the system to detect that person and enable the passenger’s frontal airbag. • If the indicator OFF lamp remains lit even after this, the person should be advised to ride in the rear seat. I'm not sure from your post but I assume it's working correctly now. Correct?
4N1M4L
There are ways to do this, but the dealer won't help. You can calibrate the weight sensor in the passenger seat with a decently talented code scanner. If it is calibrated correctly, but you are running into a physics problem, you could probably calibrate it again and have somebody lift up on the seat to offset so it turns on. Passinos
Sometimes the airbag will come on and other times it wont. This happens regardless if her seatbelt is on. Love to be able to program it with a code scanner, maybe reduce thresold 10-15lbs.
